My Postscript printer has two paper trays, and since I don't generally use letterhead or different size paper, one is never used. Would it be possible to write a short resident program that would trap an "out of paper" error and switch automatically to the alternate tray? That way I could keep them both loaded with the same paper. I think I know how to switch trays, but handling error messages is not something I know how to do in Postscript. The answer is most likely in your printer manual. We have a QMS 800II,
the flag is called "trayswitch." Set it to true to do exactly what you
need. This is not part of PostScript Language, hence it should be different
for each made of printer. Only your manual can help you!
