[comp.lang.postscript] Making Spot Color Overlays Easily??

folta@tove.umd.edu (Wayne Folta) (11/10/89)

Here is what I want to do:

   1. Draw a graphic in FreeHand 2.0. The graphic will include spot colors.
   2. Place this in a brochure in PageMaker 3.02. The brochure may include
      spot colors.
   3. Get PostScript output from PageMaker.
   4. Generate a spot color overlay for each color used *either* in PM or FH.
If I use the same color in both, only one overlay should be generated,
      not two.

This seems logically easy. It isn't as complicated as color seperation,
with its concerns about moires and saturation, etc.. Can it be done?

[In case it is still not clear... Say I draw a paintbrush in FreeHand, with
a black handle and a red brush (call these colors, appropriately, Red, and
Black). I place this into PageMaker, where I have Black text and a Green
piece of clipart (gaudy, huh?). Now, I want three sheets: 1) The Black
brush handle and the Black text; 2) the Red brush; 3) the Green clipart.
Also, registration marks on all pages.]
