I'm trying to configure a laserwriter to run with transcript on a sun. It was used by the people who had it before me on a pc with appletalk to print latex files. I have been able to use tip to talk to the printer at both 9600 and 1200 baud. Eventually, I'd like to change the baud rate to 19200 or whatever it can do. I have done the "serverdict begin 0 exitserver" and "statusdict begin" to allow access to the eerom commands, but when I try to change things like the printer name, I get invalid access errors. Also, the printer is printing the first job after powerup correctly, but then it just sits and flashes the yellow light in double blinks all the time. Just for kicks, I looked at defaulttimeouts to see if the wait time was set to zero or something. It was 300 instead of 30. I'm beginning to think that it might be simpler to reset the printer to it's factory settings so that I know what I'm working with. Is there any way to do that? Is there some switch hidden inside the printer? help! -- Rodney
