There are two options that I know of for viewing PostScript output on an IBM PC compatible display. There is a commercial product by the name of GoScript produced by LaserGo, Inc in San Diego, CA (800) 451-0088, whose most recent version (I believe 3.0) has a screen preview mode for I believe EGA and VGA displays. This I have seen demonstrated at Comdex last November, and have seen ads in recent PC Magazine issues for it. The other option is a public domain/shareware program called Ghostscript (not to be confused with GoScript ...). It has an option to display on EGA and VGA screens I understand. I cannot speak from hands on experience on this one, as I do not have either kind of display, but have looked at the sources and the documentation for it. It is available for anonymous FTP from many sites on the net, and I have noticed it specifically on "grape.ecs.clarkson.edu" in the /d/graphics directory I believe. The current version is 1.3 I think, and the files are named gs13src.zip, gs13exe.zip and gs13exe on that machine. The one advantage GoScript has is support for fonts. I am aware that LaserGo has many different fonts available, whereas I do not think that there is many fonts available for GhostScript. t I'd suggest that you take a look at GhostScript before you fork out for GoScript. Be forewarned that it may not do everything that you want it to, but at least it won't cost you as much as GoScript to figure that out. If you have any questions about this or FTP'ing GhostScript - just e-mail me. There has been several mentions of a program called Ghostscript. I understand that it is available under FTP. I don't have FTP access. could someone point us/me to a fileserver type system where it can be gotten? Cheers Woody
