I'm trying out a software package that connects Macs and PCs to my VAX, and "spools" files from Macs and PCs to print queues on my VAX. In the install procedure for this package (on the VAX end), it prints a PostScript program to a PostScript printer (LN03R) on my VAX every time I boot the VAX. This PostScript program is ( first 8 lines of code ) %!PS-Adobe-2.0 %%Title: "Laser Prep -- The Apple PostScript Dictionary (md)" %%Creator: Apple Software Engineering %%CreationDate: Thursday, March 19, 1987 %{appledict version #68 0 % CopyRight Apple Computer, Inc. 1984,1985,1986,1987,1988 All Rights Reserved. %%EndComments %%BeginProcSet: "(AppleDict md)" 68 0 ---------------followed by ~750 more lines of PostScript code -------- Does Apple license "The Apple PostScript Dictionary"? If this is _all_ the magic it takes to get Mac-generated PostScript to print on my plain PostScript printer, I want to consider getting the right to use somebody's implementation of this dictionary. We only have _1_ Mac, and, while the PC implementation of this software does function, I've seen better. Are non-Apple implementations of "(AppleDict md)" available? Thanks! _Please_ reply by mail or to comp.lang.postscript. I'm not a Mac user, and can't possibly wade through the volume of comp.sys.mac. --------- Esther Lumsdon --- with disclaimer; use disclaimer; ------------ At no time is freedom of speech more precious than when a man hits his thumb with a hammer.
