Seems I periodically ask this question in different flavors, but this time I think I have exactly the requirements I need. I am looking for a version of DVIPS that works on the VAX/VMS system, BSD and SysV. I have been extremely successful in using Beebe's DVIPS (DVIALW) program, however, the version I am using has limitations. Here are the things I am looking for: (1) Work on VAX/VMS, BSD and SysV. I am trying to make this available on a wide variety of platforms. Currently, I have hosted TeX/LaTeX to VAX, Convex, Sun and SGI. (2) Allow the use of PostScript fonts. I have tfm files for the PostScript fonts. (3) Allow the inclusion of PostScript files. I really like psfig, and have used it with Arbortext DVIPS (a real good product). (4) MACINTOSH POSTSCRIPT FIGURES. This is usually the area I have problems in. I have modified version of LaserPrep68 (and others), and would like to include PostScript pictures from the Macintosh. It seems everytime I have tried this, and have printed to an Apple LaserWriter, I get a blank page and then the picture. I have not had this problem with other LaserWriters. I would be extremely interested in hearing from anyone who is using a PD DVIPS program, and is successfully using psfig with LaserPrep 68. (5) I have had some DVI programs complain about the tfm files I have (the Beebe one has not). I am not sure if they (tfm files) are out of date, of the file format is not correct for them. This has primarily occurred on the VMS system. That is all I can think about for now. I can summerize to the net. -- Louis McDonald Internet: louis@aerospace.aero.org The Aerospace Corporation 213-336-8914
