[comp.lang.postscript] The letter "AE" bevahes strange in Courier font

spang@nbivax.nbi.dk (Karsten Spang) (05/28/90)

    Hi,

I have a problem with the letter "AE" (and "ae") in the Courier font.
According to the manual, the letter does not exist in the font, but if you
try "(\341) show", it appears as expected. On the other hand, if I try to
do an encoding to print the character in "line printer" style, and using
the character name "AE", I get an "A" followed by an "E".
It is as if the printer is able to print the character, but does not know
that it is able to do it. Thus it simply substitutes "A" and "E" for "AE",
how can I make it avoid that? The printer is running PostScript Version
47.2C.

Please reply by e-mail, as I don't read comp.lang.postscript regularly.

                              Thanks in advance

                                  Karsten
