I'm sure this question has been asked before, but just send me e-mail if you don't want to waste net bandwidth. Most Macs I run into have a number of fonts; Geneva, New York, Monaco, etc. that are loaded as screen fonts. Unfortunately most aserWriters don't have these fonts so you end up with a substitution. Can anyone suggest a source to obtain these laser font files and the best way to implement them? Some of the LaserWriters around here are AppleTalk connected and I could use one of the many font downloading programs, but some are on spoolers managed by Unix systems and this worries me. I understand pretty good about screen font files but would like to pick up what I can about laser fonts. Will I have to download these fonts every time it loses power? Can it just be done so that when I print a file in New York, it will download it by itself strictly for the duration of my printout? Anything you can tell me about the mechanisms of teaching the old dog new tricks would be appreciated. How much memory do laser fonts take? Will a couple of them eat up so much of the meager 2 meg or so of laser memory that printouts will slow down? By the way, I'm not overly interested in purchasing a disk of 3 fonts for $500 like no doubt Adobe would have me do. I'm looking for strictly PD type stuff. -- Vincent Fox (That's Mr. Bucko to you) Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, 30332 uucp: ...!{decvax,hplabs,ncar,purdue,rutgers}!gatech!prism!ccastvf Internet: ccastvf@prism.gatech.edu
