Has anyone every come up with an algorithm or table to determine what setgray value corresponds to what screen percentage as would be spec'd by a graphic designer? That is, our experience is that, if a designer specs a 20% screen for an element on a page, using a ".8 setgray" does not give her or him what she or he would expect if the same spec were given to a commercial print shop. Of course, the resolution of the output device would have something to do with this, but still there must be some rule of thumb for making this conversion rather than just using trial and error. If anyone has dealt with this, I'd be interested in hearing about it. Thanks. -Scott Larson, Composition Supervisor, Microsoft Corp., Redmond, WA
