How do you deal with people wanting to put different size paper in a shared LaserWriter? Right now, if somebody wants legal paper, they have to click the right box in the print setup box on their mac and then run to the printer to change the tray and hope they get there at just the right time (i.e. not in the middle of somebody else's job). What we really need is some sort of PostScript routine to print out a page that says "Insert Legal Paper Tray Now" (or whatever) and then waits for the user to do so. Once the PostScript problem is solved, the next thing we need is a way to make the Mac printer driver send that piece of postscript in front of a print job. Is there any way to do either or (preferably) both of these things? I've seen PS headers that print "put acetate in manual feed slot now" and then turn on manual feed, but that's not really quite what we want; just turning on manual feed doesn't do any good if you want to put legal paper in the slot because having the letter tray still in the printer seems to confuse things badly. -- Roy Smith, Public Health Research Institute 455 First Avenue, New York, NY 10016 roy@alanine.phri.nyu.edu -OR- {att,cmcl2,rutgers,hombre}!phri!roy "Arcane?
