[comp.lang.postscript] Large greyscale image won't print

Stuart_Jefferson_Adams@cup.portal.com (09/26/90)

I am trying to print a large greyscal image with postscript
when I try to print an image thats too big the printer never
prints the page. Smaller images in the same format work fine.
I thought it might be a memory problem but I tried the large image
on a QMS COlorScript with 8 Megs of RAM and it still did not work.

Is there a way to get around this if its simply a memory problem ??
How can I find out how much memroy the printer has for image area
and for user data ???

the image is 511x1020 pixels (1 byte/pixel). the postscript file
that is generated is a little larger than 1 Meg. However, I can use
an option to use RLE encoding to make the postscript file approx. 750 K
and this still does not help. (I am using the pbmplus tools pgmtops).

Thanks,
Stuart
