I hope this is a simple question.. My office just purchased a LJ III with the HPps cartridge. We are (temporarily) using an old PC/XT to drive it. I have to say I was pleasantly suprised at how easy this was to set up (the hard part was re-learning DOS after a few years) I was somewhat anoid (but not suprised) that switching from PostScript to HP mode requires powering down the printer and removing the PS cartridge. Actually restarting in itself isn't so bad but plugging and unplugging the cartridge all day is bound to cause some damage. Thus my questions.. 1 (easy) there must be a simple way to print ASCII files with the postscript cartridge right? Something like the Unix enscript command would be nice. 2 (hard) We have one die hard WordPerfect person who has tons of HP downloadable fonts. Is there any hope for us to not have to restart the printer each time this guy wants to print? I thought that I heard of a PostScript program that emulated an HP (wouldn't that be neat to emulate an HP on an HP ). -- please let me know if you see multiple copies of my postings (one copy of my opinion is one too many right :-) -george @sol1.lrsm.upenn.edu

Simpler than that - psroff 2.0 has a program that will convert HP SFP's into Postscript fonts - retarget your WP to generate postscript and use his fonts in postscript. Psroff hasn't made it out over usenet yet, but it is available by FTP - send me mail if you need the FTP access info. -- Chris Lewis, Phone: TBA UUCP: uunet!utai!lsuc!ecicrl!clewis Moderator of the Ferret Mailing List (ferret-request@eci386) Psroff mailing list (psroff-request@eci386)
