[comp.lang.postscript] Compiling Ghostscript on MS-DOS

ghost@aladdin.com (L. Peter Deutsch) (01/18/91)

A recent posting by Tom Arseneault asked about compiling Ghostscript
on MS-DOS machines.

1) A precompiled MS-DOS executable of Ghostscript 2.1 (not 2.1.1,
sorry) is available as part of the current Ghostscript fileset, under
the name ghostscript-2.1msdos.exe. It includes only the EGA and
Epson drivers. It should run on any PC-family machine with an
EGA-compatible display and at least 640K of RAM. A numeric
coprocessor is helpful, but not required.

2) I believe, although I may be wrong, that people who have Borland
Turbo C 2.0 are not having trouble building Ghostscript.

3) I believe that people *are* having trouble building Ghostscript
with Turbo C++ 1.0. I recently ordered this system from Borland, but
haven't received it yet. Once I have it, patches to make Ghostscript
compile properly with it will be available in very short order.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you are having trouble
building Ghostscript with TC 2.0, or if you have successfully built
Ghostscript with TC++.
