[comp.lang.postscript] Speed problem with laser printer

mauro@simm.sublink.org (Mauro Mozzarelli) (01/23/91)

I have an IBM PS/2 model 30/286 + 1Meg. expansion RAM, with Windows 3.0
installed and the Word for Windows application. The printer is a
Hewlett Packard Laserjet IIP, with 1,5 Mbytes RAM and PostScript cartridge.
The printer is connected to the system via parallel interface.
My problem is that when I want to print a single page table, written with
Word, I have to wait at least half an hour to print this table.
The system takes four or five minutes to create the postscript source, then
the printer takes 25-30 minutes before it prints one sheet.
Without the postscript cartridge, using the built in HPCL, printing the
same table takes more time, and the PC still busy for more time.
How can I do to increase the speed ?
Should be better to buy another printer ? And what printer (I use that
one for other applications that don't use the postscript language) ?
Thanks in advance,

            Mauro
