In message <36628@netnews.upenn.edu>, George Jefferson asks: > Does anyone know what change/improvement was made from 2.0 to 2.1.1 The major change between 2.0 and 2.1.1, aside from a fair number of minor bug fixes, was the addition of support for the most important elements of the Color P*stScr*pt Extensions, namely the CMYK color operators and the colorimage operator. There was also a very large improvement in the speed of the X Windows driver. The Ghostscript sources include a file history.doc that contains a complete, detailed list of every change made in every release. (Well, I do miss some now and then.) And in message <1991Jan30.201620.9713@agate.berkeley.edu>, Geoffrey Ghose reports: > [making Ghostscript with Turbo C++ produces lots of undefined symbols > because gdevs.tl is empty] Sigh. This is an old problem with the makefiles that many hours of thought have produced no solution for. The documentation (make.doc) does say: - Ghostscript version 2.0 requires that you build the device drivers - individually, i.e., if your configuration includes device XXX, you must - say - make XXX.dev - before you say - make I'd be surprised if this doesn't solve this problem. Be sure to delete gdevs.h and gdevs.tl *before* doing the above. (I know the doc doesn't tell you to do this.) Geoffrey also asks about building Ghostscript on an IBM RT running AIX. I have a faint memory of someone else building Ghostscript on an RT, but I can't retrieve the details. If he can mail me the compiler's output, I may be able to help diagnose the problem(s). L.
