Answer was:  gsave initclip clippath pathbbox grestore somescaleproc

New question is: so what does such a program use as its %%BoundingBox
if it wishes to remain EPS conforming?  That is, if you create a
truly device independent PostScript program that scales its output
to fill the current device's imageable area, there is no predetermined
bounding box.  One would also have difficulty predicting the result
of including such a file in a larger document.
