I am in need of a program to convert color postscript files to CMYK rasters. The files I'm converting are rather large, 36"x42" 400dpi. The output CMYK files are about 120 meg each and are being sent to a Versatec 400dpi electro- static color plotter. Currently, I'm using Freedom of the Press on a 33Mhz 486 with an 8 meg hard drive cache, but it still take between a half an hour and two hours to render each image, depending upon the complexity of the input files. Does anyone know of a program that is faster than Freedom of the Press; or can anyone suggest a faster way to process these files? We're considering buying a SparcStation to dedicate to image conversion, but we're not sure what the speed improvement would be or what software to use. Reply via email or this newsgroup. Thanks.
