[comp.lang.postscript] cut marks

brad@bradley.bradley.edu (Bradley E. Smith) (03/21/91)

Configuration:
	Linotype typesetter
	ditroff with tpscript or dpost
	Sun OS 4.1.1
Printing a catalog - page layout 7inches wide, 9 inches long

Problem:

1 - we only get cut marks at top of page (execpt for last page we
	    get both top and bottom).

2 - how do we get rid of the blank paper (the lino thinks we are
are using 8.5x11 paper so we have 2inches of unsed paper.

Notes:
This stuff runs fine using ditroff and a VAX 11/750 on a CG8400.

thanks,

Does the "DESC" file have the pagelength parameter right? You'll want
to set it to 9 inches. In order to not interfere with other uses of
ditroff, you'll probably want to copy the /usr/lib/font/dev<xxx> ASCII
width tables to /usr/lib/font/dev<yyy>, adjust pagelength, and recompile
the widths with makedev. (or PD mkfont if your ditroff didn't come with
makedev). This should solve (2), and make (1) irrelevant.

That's the correct behaviour: if all pages are printed on one piece of
paper you can split it in individual pages by cutting at the cut-marks.
