[comp.lang.postscript] Have you had experience with these Postscript printers?

oliver@fire.berkeley.edu (Oliver Sharp) (05/04/91)

Now that low-end Postscript printers are available for a reasonable amount
of money, I'm thinking about getting one. The three printers I've looked
at are:
  - the QMS PS410
  - the TI MicroLaser PS 35
  - the Printer Works QMS JetScript/Canon engine combination

If you have experience with any of these printers or something else in
the same price range (1200-1900), I'd appreciate hearing about it. Speed
is not as important as reliability and an absolutely faithful implementation
of Postscript. The printer will be light duty, but I want it to last.
I like HP equipment a lot, but the Postscript emulation I've seen was
painfully slow and not a full implementation. I might use HP PCL if it is
available, but I won't miss it - Postscript is what I deal with most of the
time.

I'd prefer email responses, to avoid wasting bandwidth, and I will summarize
in about a week.

Thanks very much,
- Oliver
