Sent on behalf of Maggie Shaw - Has anybody written a postscript program that can place motifs on a page to the nominal accuracy of the device i.e. to 300 dots per inch (or 600 etc) without suffering rounding errors at the device coordinate level? We are trying to replace a highly accurate (25micron resolution) facility (an old Optronics Photowrite machine) with a laser printer, or similar device. The current research would need only to print small black circles on a white background, but they need to be placed at the highest accuracy possible. (The 255 grey scale available on the Photowrite would not need to be duplicated). We are trying to produce 4 inch square lattices which can then be used to produce copper foil masks, for use as optical diffraction gratings. If you could mail any replies as I (we) don't read all these newsgroups on a regular basis. I'll summarise the responses only if there is demand. Please use the address CookC@Cardiff.ac.uk, Shaw@cardiff.ac.uk Many thanks, Chris and Maggie
