I'm looking for a way of producing encapsulated postscript from an X11 screen dump. I have some windows that I want to get a snap shot of and include them in a LaTeX document. I tried the following sequence with limited success: xwd | xwdtoppm | ppmtopgm | pgmtops > file.ps The problem here is that the window trim is removed and that the bounding box isn't correct if I use the scale option of pgmtops. I've heard there is another set of bit manipulation routines (Fuzzy Bitmap Manipulation FBM) but haven't been able to locate it. Are there any other ways to get window dumps into EPS? Under X11 R4 you can do an: xwd -frame | xpr -dev ps > filename.ps I beleive xpr comes on the MIT R4 contrib tape. This series of commands will capture a window, including the frame and will then convert it to postscript. -- <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Michael Steele steele@dg-rtp.dg.com or mikes@catt.ncsu.edu Data General Corporation -- Building the finest Workstations in Industry <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
