I have received a number of requests for more information about the X archives that I maintain and I have tried to answer them all. Unfortunately my mailer is serverly brain damaged and can not handle return addresses with %'s and @'s (some of them even uunet rejected). Therefore I am posting the Announcement here, if you do respond to the posting, PLEASE give me a uucp understandable return address. thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! W e s t C o a s t X a r c h i v e !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The West Coast Xarchive is now available. The purpose of this archive is to provide access to all publicly available X Window System based soft- ware through UUCP. The archive contains a complete comp.sources.x direct- ory and a copy of what can be found on expo/contrib and expo/pub. The expo directories will be updated roughly once a month. The archive can currently be accessed at 1200 baud. I am hoping to get a Telebit Trailblazer added in the near future. I am setting up this archive to be pseudo annonymous. In other words, I am giving everyone access, but I want you to ask for a connection using the attached form. When you submit the form, I will authorize your host to call the archive and I will send you back a copy of the L.sys entry for the archive. By not making the archive totally annonymous, I will be able to document the usage of the archive in order to help justify its existence to the system administrator and upper management. I am hoping to have enough information to help justify adding the Telebit Trailblazer. Since some of the files in the archive may tend to be rather large, I am also offering snailmail service for users. To make my life simple Please include the following when request a tape by mail: 1. The tape (either reel, Sun cart, or uVax cart format) 2. a reusable or return mailer for the tape 3. POSTAGE 4. a COMPLETE return address 5. a list of the files that you want (please don't be too pickey, it's easier to send the whole archive than 75% of it) 6. if the tape is in reel format, the tape density Since I do this in my copious spare time, please allow for about a one to two week turn around for tape requests. ...{decwrl|ucbvax}!imagen!atari!daisy!turner (James M.
