Procomm seems to be a topic lately (PIL Software should be elated, especially with the mention in PC Mag). I have been using it with my PC/XT with only one problem: dropped characters in VT100 emulation mode. I posted on this problem a couple months back, receiving about a dozen responses, none of which really helped. Naturally, the problem could lie outside of Procomm, and by its nature appears to be a timing question. All I *really* know is that the pipe leading from my mainframe (actually, a mini) to my screen has a leak in it. I don't think it's our communications, because I have no problem with ADM3A emulation on our VM/CMS machine with Ascii controller. I have no problem with our Sperry 1100/80 in VT100 mode, nor with our VMS Vax machine in VT100 mode. But on the BSD 4.2 Unix Vax, I got a problem. People who are using terminals (as opposed to PCs) are having no problems. Our Unix system administrator runs from a Zenith 158 with Kermit as his comm package, and he has no problems. So I think it's Procomm. What I've done is send PIL Software my money so I can ask for support. I'll report on what happens then (haven't heard back yet). Part of the problem, incidentally, is trying to find out who's doing what and when. Any suggestions on that part? -- ==UUCP: {harvard, seismo, topaz, =========================Jess Anderson====== | akgua,allegra,ihnp4,usbvax}!uwvax!uwmacc!anderson 1210 W.
