We have the Seagate 4026 20MB disk for trade. Our has 40ms ave. seek time, parks heads on power down, has a dedicated-surface closed loop servo control, linear voice coil actuator and is ST506 compatible. The reason we want to trade it is that our hard disk controller (STRIDE proprietary hardware) issues buffered seek pulses too fast - and this rate is NOT in the ST506 specs. From what I know, IBM (and other) controllers usually do it slow enough (at least 25us apart), so it will work with these. We need something that will take the 8us buffered seek pulse train, eg: ST412 ST225 ST212 or (though it is 10MB and we'll ask for some 'retribution') ST216 (I hope I got all these numbers right) You will get a peace of mind this way, because of the head parking feature, not to mention the short acces time; we'll get away from the ugly desinfor- mation affair. The disk is factory new (2/1/86), with absolutely defectless surface.
