[alt.sources] need a simple, easy-to-use, unix-based editor with on-line help

sja2@cbnewsd.ATT.COM (steve.j.alesch) (03/02/90)

I'm developing a system which will use a character-based user
interface (not a graphical user interface, at least initially).
The intended user is not required to have any computer literacy.
They will be presented menus and just type in one or two
character commands as they work their way thru the menus. In a
couple of situations I will need to have the user use an editor.
Vi or emacs are much too complicated for this type of user. Does
anyone know of a simple, easy-to-use, unix-based editor that has
on-line help that I could use for such a system?

The target system is an AT&T 3B2/500 running UNIX System V R3.
