[alt.sources] tcsh 5.19 available

christos@theory.tn.cornell.edu (Christos S. Zoulas) (09/24/90)

A new version of tcsh (5.19) is available from tesla.ee.cornell.edu
(128.84.253.11) in /pub/tcsh-5.19.

This version contains lots of bug fixes, and added support for the
rs6000.

I wish to thank per@erix.ericsson.se (Per Hedeland),
mday@iconsys.icon.com (Matt Day), jw@sics.se (Johan Widen) and
mark@comp.vuw.ac.nz (Mark Davies) for their help, comments, and
bugfixes.

Anybody out there planning on putting up binaries for ftp? I ask because I'm
*very* interested in a version for the sun4 (under 4.1), but alas I'm lacking
one of those fabulous source licenses that makes it all possible.

 Thanks..

Are compiled versions of this held anywhere that I could ftp from ? We don't
have unix sources to use the diffs on.... (Sun 3/[5,6,8]0's, SunOS 4).

Unless there is a complete tcsh source set somewhere ?

Thanks.

is this release related to the work done by paul placeway?
i would guess not since he told me private releases got the odd numbers
and public releases got the even numbers but i could be wrong.

I just checked the situation on tesla.ee.cornell.edu

They have the following are probably v5.19 binaries:

tcsh.rs6000-aix3.1
tcsh.sun4-sunos4.1

I have now made the following binaries available for ftp on
	sics.se	(192.16.123.90)

-r--r--r-- 1 root 134339 Sep 25 15:33 tcsh.NeXT.Z
-r--r--r-- 1 root 114841 Sep 25 15:34 tcsh.i386.Mach.Z
-r--r--r-- 1 root 120961 Sep 25 15:31 tcsh.sun3-sunos4.0.3.Z
-r--r--r-- 1 root 135585 Sep 25 15:28 tcsh.sun4-sunos4.0.3.Z
-r--r--r-- 1 root 134175 Sep 25 15:32 tcsh.symmetry.DYNIX.Z

The i386.Mach binary has been compiled on a machine with the following line
in /etc/motd
	Mach/4.3 #5.1(I386o): Sat Aug 25 17:58:58 EDT 1990; sys/STD+WS-afs-nfs (x29.mach.cs.cmu.edu)

eric@ux.acs.umn.edu (Eric "The Mentat Philosopher" Hendrickson) (09/25/90)

Is this 5.19 version a successor to the 5.18 version? I happen to be in
the process of setting up version 5.18 for UMAX 4.3, and I heard something
about how the odd versions are seperate (somehow) from the even versions.
Is this true?

		Thanks,
