I've got an old Heathkit H9 terminal that I'm trying to teach to talk to a modem. It appears to function perfectly in off-line mode, echoing characters to the screen, etc. The manual provides a chart with the pin numbers for transmit, receive and ground signals. I hooked a modem up to the appropriate pins, using 1, 2, 3 and 7 on the modem (1 and 7 (grounds) hooked together with the ground pin on the H9's serial port), but the modem received nothing I typed. The serial port on the H9 is a square, 9-pin connector (not the usual RS-232 connector). Does anyone know how to go about hooking the H9 up to another device (modem or computer)? Do any special wiring kluges need to be made? Andrew Moore arpa MOORE%MIT-EECS@MIT-MC.ARPA uucp ...mit-eddie!moore bbs 617/479-9208 us Box 121, North Quincy, MA 02171
