In order to get the stupid messages of the form: 'How many 1973 Lower Mongolia Vocational School Graduates are there on the net (remember Professor Potato Head? ha,ha)' 'The 1963 Class of Mark Hofmann Reformatory is having its 21 year reunion (organized by Phyllis and a friend)' out of 'net.general', I recommend that a newsgroup called something like 'net.reunions' be created so I can unsubscribe to it. I think school reunion messages are simply another thing that should be using the often suggested and never agreed on net.people, where we can also let people announce their presence, changes of address, locating old friends, romances, marriages, divorces (a personal favorite of mine), children, and other things that have to do with the people on the net. chuq -- From behind the bar at Callahan's: Chuq Von Rospach {fortune,menlo70}!nsc!chuqui Just when you decide you know everything, they go and change reality again.

Has any consensus been reached on net.people as yet? I do cast a YES vote on this group. Although I am generally opposed to creating newsgroups by voting them into existence; this groups potential traffic and demand have already been established. I would create the group (Gee we've been on the net for almost 7 months, and I haven't created or deleted any Newsgroups yet), but I would like some sense of consensus. Unless I receive any strong opinions to the contrary, I will create this group in 1 weeks time. Regards, -- Binayak Banerjee {allegra | astrovax | bpa | burdvax}!sjuvax!bbanerje

What ever happened to the group that was going to be created for this sort of thing? I seem to recall discussion about it a couple of months ago, and then the topic died.
