[alt.sources] IRC Source?

vpopesc%neptune@calstatela.edu (Valentin Popescu) (11/28/90)

Hello.

I am looking for the source for IRC so I can compile my own. I can't seem
to find it in any archive, so I hope someone out there can help me out.

so, if you do know either:
		1. an FTP site that carries IRC
		2. what is the lates version or IRC

please let me know.

One more very important thing. Please reply to vpopesc@neptune.calstatela.edu
and *NOT* vpopesc%neptune@... etc since that machine is temporarly down.
Also, public replies would do me no good, since I don't get to read this
newsgroup (this is posted via the relay at ucbvax)

Thanks

From a recent post on comp.archives:

The "new standard" client, IRC II, can be ftp'ed from
rvw2.hhs.ri.cmu.edu and cs.bu.edu, among other locations.

For those whose systems administrators have still not caught up with
RFC 1123 by performing name-to-address resolution automatically,

	   rvw2.hhs.ri.cmu.edu is 128.2.104.65, and
	   cs.bu.edu is 128.197.10.1 (or 128.197.2.1).
