Hi net.landians...

This letter was in reply to one who accused me of being an Intel lover. I am
posting this letter as an article (as I feel) of general comment, and I am
requesting further opinions, but please do not take this posting as a request
for flames... I left my extinguisher at home.

Hi, you must really like Motorola, which implies you hate Intel.

No, I do not love Intel, nor do I love Motorola. I however do use products
that incorporate Intel products, as I am sure you do also (Intel makes alot
of EPROM's, RAM, etc.). I also use products that incorporate Motorola parts
(various forms of video controllers and TTL come to mind).

You can classify me as a person who uses tools not because of the name brand,
but because they make my job easier. Hence, I do use IBM computers (and a few
PC clones). They are reasonable and cost effective solutions to daily problems.

I also use VAX computers, even though I dread doing so because they are so
damned slow any time the load average approaches 3.0. I much prefer to use our
Gould because with four times as many users, it's load avrerage rarely goes
beyond 1.9 (which is a noticable slowdown).

I also HATE the text editor vi supplied with UNIX, although some of the other
UNIX utilities are usable. I am using vi to create this file, and find it to
be ghastly when compared to a product such as Ashton-Tate's FRAMEWORK II. But,
then vi is a tool as is FRAMEWORK, as is a VAX, GOULD, IBM, IBM PC, an Intel
uP, or a Motorola uP.

It takes a real clone to throw away a Cresent wrench, just because it has a
K-Mart label (:-).
