[alt.sources] Full Text Retrieval Database Part 00/13

lee@sq.sq.com (Liam R. E. Quin) (03/04/91)

I am about posting my text retrieval package in 13 parts (14 if you
count this one).

The package has been fairly sfable for about 18 months now, and has been
ported to a number of systems.

If you don't get it all, or some of it is ill, or you're feeling bored,
you can also ftp it from cs.toronto.edu [128.100.1.65].
The file there is lq-text1.10.tar.Z -- there is also a README, but this is
included in the tar, so you don't need both. The ftp distribution includes
a few more files -- sdbm and an extra test file -- but you don't need those
to get running; they're only there in case there are problems, and will go
away soon, I expect.

The README contains instructions for installation -- it's really very
simple. If you are using the alt.sources distribution, you may need
to run the src/UseHash shell script to make all the header files
appear in the right places.

You will certainly need to edit src/Makefile at least a little, but there
are comments and it's really just a case of choosing the right configuration.

Please do mail me if you find lq-text useful. I also keep a mailing list
of users to whom I send out bug reports and patches, so let me know if
you want to be on that.

I'm also receptive to new ideas...

Lee
