We have no traffic for such a group. Wait until a need appears. After a brief flurry (which found groups somewhere to invade) of "initial reactions" messages wound down, all traffic (that I've seen) died out. Until (and unless) programming languages become available, and serious work is being done by a body of users, we won't see more. I would love to *read* such a group, but we shouldn't create it until we have the traffic to justify it. Bennett Todd ...{decvax,ihnp4,akgua}!mcnc!ecsvax!bet

[bug-food] YES, out of principle, just in case someone keeps count. You should see the ARPA-traffic, generated by the many universities which get the machines under 'the plan'. Even though, I have not followed the pros and cons here closely (exercising my n-key a lot) as I read the stuff on ARPA, I remember seeing one article which voted against porting that traffic to USENET. Now, personally, I don't care if the ARPA-traffic gets ported to USENET or not, but I am certain, that most of the articles posted there are not of any interest to this net-community, who, in general has no chance to get any of those 'magic-machines'. But, at the same time, other postings are VERY INTERESTING even though you can't get your hands on a MAC. So why not create a group, where some people can repost the interesting stuff captured elsewhere, without bothering the general Apple-user-community? I don't understand you folks, if you are not interested in a group, why would you feel bothered by it's creation? All anyone should care about is if there are enough YES votes to indicate that people would read such a group. Maybe, the question posed should not be "create a new group", but rather "anyone out there who would like to discuss topic XYZ, or simply follow the discussion" If enough people indicate active or passive interest, then let them have their group. In the mean-time, parties interested in the MAC should post interesting stuff on the existing group for apple-users. And, I'm quite certain, if anyone requests forwarding of interesting articles from ARPA there, enough people with ARPA-access will exercise their judgement and forward selected articles. stepping on some toes, as usual, werner@ut-ngp " Mami, why do people say the world is over-crowded?" " Well, son, there are more than 4 billion of us, and each has 10 toes, and it gets so damn hard not to step on any ... "
