I would like to suggest a new newsgroup to encourage
bartering and trading of goods and services. To be called
net.barter (or net.trade?). This would differ from net.wanted in that
people would post articles offering goods or services for
trade, NOT asking where they can find this-and-such, and nothing
involving exchange of money.

The IRS recently decided that bartered goods and services are taxable, and
they are going after members of barter societies. This might make the net
a target for IRS scrutiny. Just something to think about.
