HELP!!!
We are getting ready to buy a MicroVAX for our research Lab. The
question is: which operating system should we get for this. DEC is
offering two operating systems for the microVAX. There is the microVMS
system from mother DEC, and there is the "new" Ultrix system which is
supposed to be compatible with UNiX. The computer is going to be used
mainly for number crunching, but some text processing and graphics
would be helpful. As I understand, there seems to be some speed
difference between the two systems. Can anyone out there confirm this?

Ultrix is NOT "new". When it first began life as Ultrix it was based
upon 4.2 BSD unix. Since then it has been heavily modified (but still
looks and acts like a "unix").
By the way, are you familier with either VMS or UNIX? It doesn't sound
that way to me......
