My question concerns the implementation of the ISO standards for
the MAP protocol. The specific fuzzy area is the transfer of
PDU's from the Application Layer to the Presentation Layer.
What is actually transferred under the ASN.1 notational rules?
Does the Presentation Layer require knowledge regarding
the structure of the data in the Application Layer?
Do the tags relating to the data types need to be consistent
between the application entities?
All information (or sources thereof) would be greatly appreciated!!
