Does anyone know what is going on in ISO in multi-peer addressing and data transmission? I understand there is some interest in the UK. Any pointers to their work or that of others? Regards, Richard (colella@osi3.ncsl.nist.gov)

As you probably know the requirement for multipeer data transmission is to be "reassessed" at Florence in November. The working draft addendum to ISO 7498-1 has been frozen in document ISO-IEC/JTC1/SC21 N3287. Unless a certain degree of international interest is expressed in Florence there is a chance that plans for this work will be dropped, or perhaps shelved as an ISO technical report. One or two countries are concerned that the work should be completed, but I'm not sure exactly which ones - the UK certainly is, and I think possibly the US too. It would probably be appropriate for anyone, who is interested enough to offer any resources, to contact their own national standards organization (ANSI in the case of the US). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gray Girling Telephone : (+44) 223 462121 Topexpress Ltd Telex : 817911 Topexp G Poseidon House, Castle Park Fax : (+44) 223 315057 Cambridge, CB3 0RD, UK E-Mail : cgg@uk.co.topexp -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
