From: Robert A. Morris <RAM at MIT-MC> I've gleaned the following from conversations, literature, and deduction. Anyone should hastily correct any mis-information I present: Three leading contenders for multi-bus Motorola 68k are: Codata systems, Sunnyvale Calif; unix v7 system based on Stanford Sun terminal cpu board. Unix port by Unisoft. The only (?) unix 68k commercial system presently being delivered with memory mapping implemented, hence the only (?) multi-programming one. base system is about $12k, but with only enough hard disk for system (5mB). 80 mB winchester scheduled for summer. CM Technology. Similar in flavor to Codata, but own cpu board. Memory mapped version not yet available. Have been heard to claim that they improve on the sometimes criticised Stanford mapping scheme. Probably ultimately lower in price. Unix port is also from Unisoft. Wicat Systems, Orem Utah. Similar approach to CMT. Offer their own OS also. Offer related bit mapped terminal hardware (they seem to have a good reputation in display soft/hardware). Their own v7 unix port. Also not working multi-programming (?) --bob morris
