[comp.protocols.iso] time critical applications

levin@sparkyfs.istc.sri.com (Larry Levin) (09/13/90)

I have recently heard that there is an ISO working group looking at
the area of protocols for time critical (i.e. real-time) applications.
Can anyone provide some information as to what this group is doing
and what the status is of any documents produced to date? If anyone
knows how to contact the chair for this group I would appreciate it.

I would also like to know if there is a similar group examining the issue
of network survivability.

Thank you

Hello Larry,

The group in question is the "TCCA rapporteurs' group of ISO/TC184/SC5/WG2
on time critical communications architecture and systems" of which I am
a member. The group has only recently become "part" of the OAISI system
and we currently have a draft report (for private circulation at the
moment, however).

The chairperson is Dr. Kate Grant of Ninetiles Ltd, a company based near
Cambridge in the UK.

I hope this helps.
