I'm trying to write a paper comparing three network management protocols for a class. However, I'm having trouble finding materials on the three protocols I wanted to cover: IBM's NetView, SNMP, and OSI's CMIP. Does anyone know of any good papers on these? Where can they be found? (Anonymous ftp perhaps?) Are there any down-to-earth (easier to understand) papers or books on these topics? Thanks in advance for your help. I'm trying to write a paper comparing three network management protocols for a class. There was a network management bibliography published in Computer Communication Review (CCR) about a year I think. It was done by Adarshpal Sethi, of the University of Delaware. I believe that most of the CCR articles are FTP'able from "sh.relay.net"; you will have to look around. You might also try "The Simple Book", by Marshall T. Rose. It emphasize SNMP. Jim

There is a good overview of SNMP and CMIP in IEEE Networks magazine, July 1990, by Ben-Artzi, Chandna, and Warrier. Bob Braden
