I am very ineterested in getting the ASN.1 ISO standard specs (both the language spec and the encoding spec.) I believe they are numbers 8825 and 8826. I have no idea where to get them. Could you please inform this poor naive soul? PS: I would very much like machine readable stuff as-well-as/instead-of paper. (Direct mail a reply if you would, since I don't often read this newsgroup ... I will be checking for an answer to this post, but I don't want to miss anything important :-) Thanks) aca (squish)

I have just read what I believe is the first copy in North America of Doug Steedman's "ASN.1 The Tutorial and Reference" This may be what you are looking for. The book gives a very good overview of ASN.1, the background and possible future standards in the area. The only small downside I could find is that the book is a little lean on the Basic Encoding Rules. The book is available from the PSC Institute at (613) 731-7697. ....Erik.
