It is my understanding that the original purpose for net.unix and net.unix-wizards being separate groups was to reflect the level of expertise for the articles. Also, separate arpanet mailing lists were gatewayed to these groups. It is my opinion that very few people understand the difference between the groups, and just post articles to whichever group is convenient, or worse, post to both. It's not uncommon to see a question in one group and answers in the other. I(m sure most will agree that the large number of articles posted to these groups makes rejecting duplicate articles particularly annoying in this case. Combining the two groups will not completely eliminate the duplicate articles problem because some people submit their stuff to both arpanet mailing lists. However, a combined group called net.unix would certainly reduce the number of articles which must be rejected. Doug Martin martin@nosc
