[sci.lang.japan] Me and MOKE

edwards@udder.macc.wisc.edu (Mark Edwards) (08/24/90)

    I'm out of here.........., but......

There has been more interest in MOKE than I expected. Some
people still have my old address. Please note my new Post Office
address. I'll be moving to Japan shortly. I know I'll miss
my direct address to the Internet and news (I'm having withdraw
symptoms already!!!!!!). I thank all of you for your interest in
    MOKE.

MOKE is a Japanese Language word processor for the IBM PC
and clones. It requires a graphics monitor and a hard drive.

The last demo version of MOKE 2.0 is available. The demo is on
128.104.30.31. Use anonymous ftp and binary mode to transfer the
    file. You'd better hurry though.

The archives on 128.104.30.31 will be deleted sometime on Friday
August 24th. Some of the MOKE 1.1 distribution is available on
the terminator (msdos/editors/japanese) and uwasa.fi (in Finland),
as well as compuserve and various other BBS. MOKE 1.1 will be
available from KiCompWare at least for the near future also.

MOKE 1.1 is available through KiCompWare for $15 (outside of the
U.S. and Canada add an additional $5 to cover postage and handling).
Please specify 3-1/2 inch or 5-1/4 format. To order send check or
money order to the address given below (Currency sometimes has
a hard time making it to my mail box).

My email address will be good until August 24. After that I don't
whether or not I will have an email address. My US address will be
the one listed below (but change J.J. to Mark Edwards).

 Changes Since MOKE 1.1

MOKE 2.0 is a major improvement over 1.1. MOKE 2.0 has been made easier
to use, performance has been increased, the Wnndict entries are now
sorted in order of frequency, the online help facility has been improved,
most of the keyboard symbols now work in all modes, refreshing the screen
is now only done when necessary, block copy, delete, paste commands have
been added, Popup windows are used to display items that were
displayed on the ENTERLINE, missing kana were added, and many other
bugs or features were fixed. In addition here are some important
    things that were added.

     - Direct entry of kana, JIS Ascii and Ascii.
     - Display of all JIS characters page by page
     - Entry of JIS characters not in Wnndict
     - Romaji to kana conversion guides were added to the help files
       and to the User Guide.
     - Line and Column position display added on the STATUSLINE.
     - MOKE will now read either EUC or JIS files and determine
       which it is.
     - F8 is dir function now
     - Cursor and STATUSLINE were redesigned.
     - partial SKK emulation (for faster input)
