From: Ron Minnich <minnich.EE@UDel-Relay> I am a little disturbed by the discussions going on concerning the 'right' command interpreter/editor/whatever. The right one is the one that the customer wants, and if you will not sell it to him, then he can go buy it from the Japanese. On Berkeley Unix I hop around between csh and sh all the time; I use the Rand Editor, vi, or just plain ed depending on what I want to do. I know of one secretary who prefers software tools 'ed' to Gosling's Emacs. I know people who cannot and will not work without a menu always before them; others who never want to see one. If I bought a desk and received instructions on how I was to be allowed to use it, I would probably send it back. It seems to me that the presence of a 68000 in everyone's workstation should give us enough power to provide a little flexibility. Comments? ron minnich
