kterm 4.1.2 is out of beta and should be ready for general use. As a reminder, kterm 4.1.2 is an X11R4 based vt100/vt102 (and Tektronix 4014) terminal emulator that supports display of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean text (in VT mode). Also supported are: ANSI color sequences, multi-byte word selection, limited Compound Text support, and tab and newline preservation in selections. Encodings currently supported: 1. Chinese A. Shift-GuoBiao B. 8-bit GuoBiao C. Big5 2. Japanese A. JIS B. Shift-JIS C. EUC 3. Korean (Hangul only) A. 8-bit KS (Korean Standard C5601-1987) B. N-byte For those who already have kterm 4.1.2 patchlevel 6, the majority of the changes in the release version are in the documentation. Code changes were removal of the DEC Kanji JIS X0201 support from the VT parse table and a very minor change to the Korean support that doesn't affect anyone using it now. If you want the patch for the DEC Kanji JIS X0201 support, please send me email. Information on obtaining freely available Chinese, Japanese, and Korean X11 fonts is in the README file of the distribution. The code has been posted to comp.windows.x and should be showing up sometime in the near future. kterm 4.1.2 is also available from these anonymous ftp sites: clr.nmsu.edu:pub/misc/kterm-4.1.2.tar.Z [128.123.1.14] export.lcs.mit.edu:contrib/kterm-4.1.2.tar.Z [18.30.0.238] kum.kaist.ac.kr:pub/unix/Xstuffs/kterm-4.1.2.tar.Z [137.68.1.65] As always, please send me bug reports, fixes, enhancements, etc. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- mleisher@nmsu.edu "I laughed.
