The Numerical Aerodynamic Simulation (NAS) Systems Development Branch
is seeking an experienced computer professional to fill the position
of Workstation Development Group Leader.

The NAS Facility houses one of the world's largest and most advanced
supercomputer systems, used by a nationwide user community for solving
highly complex problems in fluid dynamics, aeronautics and other
scientific disciplines.  The system includes a CRAY Y-MP, a CRAY-2, a
dual Amdahl 5880's, four VAX 11/780's, 30 Silicon Graphics Iris
Workstations interconnected with Local Area Networks ranging in speeds
from 10 to 800 mbits per second.  The user visible operating system is
System V UNIX with TCP/IP based networking extensions.

As Workstation Development Group Leader, the incumbent will be
responsible for the requirements definition, specification,
acquisition, oversight of installation and initial operation of high
performance scientific graphics workstations and other graphics
hardware peripherals.  In addition, the Workstation Development Group
is responsible for:

	o	porting of existing graphics applications to new 
		hardware environments.
	o	the development of new scientific visualization
		capabilities.
	o	modification and enhancement of operating systems.
	o	development of device drivers.

The position requires at least a Master's degree in mathematics,
engineering or one of the physical sciences.  A minimum of three years
group leadership experience in the development of large software and
hardware systems is required.  Knowledge of graphics, the UNIX
operating system and familiarity with communication protocols is
highly desireable.  Salary (GS-13/14 $39,501 - $60,683).  The NASA
