GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY Brisbane, Queensland, Australia LECTURER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE SCHOOL OF COMPUTING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONTINUING APPOINTMENT Griffith University is making academic appointments to increase its strength in Artificial Intelligence. Applicants should possess a suitable higher degree, and a research record in Expert Systems and/or Knowledge Representation. Teaching experience would be an advantage. Appointees will be expected to contribute to the School's vigorous research programme. They will teach principally in the School's Bachelor of Informatics programme, but will also contribute at the honours, MPhil and PhD levels. Major areas of AI research within the School include knowledge representation, expert systems, natural language processing, logics for AI, intelligent tutoring systems, cognitive modelling, and philosophical and methodological issues. The School is developing research strength in cognitive science, and is forging AI and cognitive science links with institutions and organisations nationally and internationally. Other major areas of research in the School include information management, deductive databases, design and analysis of algorithms, programming methodology, the formal aspects of program specification and derivation, declarative programming, software quality, and the social, ethical, and organizational implications of information technology. There are currently twenty-eight academic positions in the School. It would be advantageous if the appointee could commence duty by July 1, 1991. The Lecturer's salary scale is A$33,163 - A$43,096. Benefits include superannuation, sabbatical and long service leave, parental leave, and the possibilities of a market-related loading and access to full-time child care and after school care.
