I am in the process of evaluating different windows packages for
the PC/clone world. My requirements are:
- must work on a low-end machine (808x)
- must support monochrome adapter
- must talk to a graphics card if installed (EGA or
better)
- graphics primitives must be supported for graphics
card.
- must provide windows, menus, dialog boxes, alerts, etc
- must support mice
- resource-based menus, dialogs, etc a plus
- event manager desirable
- fonts and printer drivers required, though I'll
probably end up doing some of this myself.
- full source definitely desirable
- small and fast
Some of the products I have looked include:
- C-worthy (seen the demo -- awaiting source)
- Synergy (looks OK -- awaiting demo)
The trade mags are full of ads for these sorts of things, but
it's hard to cut through the blurb. Does anyone in net.land have
any experience or helpful hints regarding any packages which meet
the above criteria?
I would be extremely grateful for any feedback... Please e-mail,
and I will summarize to the net.
