mguyott@mirror.TMC.COM (Marc Guyott) (10/06/88)
This is an update to the status of comp.windows.ms. So far I have received 71 YES votes and 6 NO votes. I have also been asked to include the following statement in my summary: >I vote yes for comp.windows.ibm. I think comp.windows.ms is too restrictive >a name, as well as being somewhat terse. > >But if it must have this name, I still vote yes... but please include the >above quote in your summary. >--- >Peter da Silva `-_-' Ferranti International Controls Corporation. >"Have you hugged U your wolf today?" peter@ficc.uu.net I do not think that the summary is an appropriate place for this comment so I am including it in this update. (Peter, if this does not satisfy the spirit of your request, please let me know.) The votes are continuing to come in at a reasonable pace so I anticipate reaching the required number of votes by the voting deadline of October 31st. HOWEVER, I would much rather have to many votes than not quite enough. If you are interested in seeing this news group created please VOTE TODAY. The voting quide lines are: Deadline for votes: The closing date for votes will be October 31, 1988, with a 72 hour leeway period to account for net propagation. Results will be tabulated and posted first to News.Admin, then on all related newsgroups, and should be available by November 7th at the latest. Depending on the result of the vote, the proper admin members will then be requested to create a new newsgroup. Should the number of NEGATIVE votes exceed that of positive votes, then the request will be withdrawn. Votes should be sent via E-Mail to the following net address: {mit-eddie, pyramid, harvard!wjh12, xait, datacube}!mirror!mguyott Votes will be counted only if received via E-Mail, or if a voter cannot find an alternative path to this address, which does happen from time to time. All you need do is mail me a one line mail message saying either: "YES for comp.windows.ms" or "NO for comp.windows.ms". I also want to apologize for a typo in the CALL FOR VOTES. I had said that the results would be available by October 7th and I should have said that the results would be available by November 7th. For those of you who are interested, I am including a list of the people who have voted up to this point. If you would like to see your name on this list then vote today 8-). Thanks for your time and patience. Marc ---- ... I never saw the morning until I stayed up all night ...
