bhoule@se-sd.sandiego.ncr.com (Bill Houle) (12/13/88)
I am currently on a fact-finding mission, and I was looking for a few good sources (magazines, books, gum-wrappers, etc.) on such subjects as X-Windows, NeWS, Display PostScript, MS-Windows, OS/2 Presentation Mgr and the like. [Yes, I know Display PS is not a windowing system...] I realize I can go to the library and scan through endless items in the Readers Guide To PeriodLit, ACM CRs, etc (and as a matter of fact I did!), but I am looking for some definitive sources -- I would like to avoid sloshing through reams of material only to find 1 or 2 gems. I am especially looking for material that addresses (some may not apply): hardware requirements, user-interface management, application transparency, standardization, device independence, portability. Many, many, many, many thanks in advance.
