Hi. I have a need to digitize the output of various sources. Video cameras, TV signals, VCRs, mostly NTSC stuff, and then convert the images to various standard formats. GIF, TIFF, PIC, PCX, BMP, BCL, you get the idea. An important aspect of the problem is that I'd like to run some real smart OCR on some of these images. for further conversion to/from Fax and/or ascii. and then further to postscript, (n/t)roff, TeX, and others. I'd really like information about intermediate formats and multiple representations. I need to go in both directions. eg. from kids on the beach to color printer, and from printed page to TV screen. Any and all solutions ,HW or SW, would be appreciated. I'd especially like to hear from someone that's doing it. This is geared toward applications for the handicapped. source ~/.many_thanks Oh, Unix or DOS based please. I don't own a Mac (yet). R.
